The Chicks are returning to the road with a special 20th-anniversary tour for their 2006 album Taking the Long Way.

According to Rolling Stone, the country trio has announced 16 shows across the United States this fall. The tour celebrates one of country music's most commercially and culturally significant records.

Taking the Long Way was a comeback statement. After years away from the spotlight following the 2003 Dixie Chicks controversy over their anti-war comments, the trio returned with an album that crossed genre lines, dominated charts, and proved their commercial viability in an industry that had largely rejected them.

The album produced major hits including "Not Ready to Make Nice" and "Travelin' Soldier," earning the band five Grammy Awards.

The tour reflects growing interest in The Chicks' legacy among younger listeners discovering their catalog. For longtime fans, the announcement represents a full-circle moment for one of country music's most outspoken acts.

Dates for The Chicks' autumn tour are coming.
