Producer Vashu Bhagnani and his company Puja Entertainment have filed a Rs 400 crore lawsuit against the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alleging unauthorised use of song rights, according to NDTV Movies.
The legal team from V K Dubey Associates has filed the suit seeking urgent injunctive relief to block the film's release before it reaches theatres.
The dispute centres on claims that the filmmakers used music without proper authorization. The Rs 400 crore demand reflects the scale of the allegations.
The legal team is pushing for immediate court intervention to restrain the film's release. If granted, the injunction could delay or prevent the movie's theatrical launch.
Rights disputes over music are not uncommon in Hindi cinema, but the size of the claim and the aggressive legal action suggest both sides are prepared for a prolonged fight.
