Apple is overhauling Siri at WWDC 2026, its largest update to the assistant in years.
The tech giant kicked off WWDC 2026 with a complete AI overhaul of Siri that will understand context, handle multi-step tasks, and chat naturally across apps. Bloomberg reported that Apple is launching a standalone Siri app designed to compete directly with ChatGPT, Claude, and Google's Gemini.
Apple is leveraging Google's Gemini technology to power Siri's capabilities. The company is also planning a messaging feature that auto-deletes conversations after 30 days, a year, or keeps them indefinitely.
The Camera app is getting a new Visual Intelligence mode powered by Google Image Search. The Photos app will receive AI-powered scene recommendations, automatic object removal, and natural language editing that lets users describe changes they want made without technical skills.
Image Playground is being upgraded with better image generation, more artistic styles, and improved character consistency. Apple is also developing a suggested Genmoji feature that proposes custom emojis based on user preferences, along with AI-generated wallpapers.
Apple is introducing an AI agent app store integration that will let users delegate tasks from booking reservations to controlling smart home devices. Productivity features in visionOS are also being updated.
